PlayStation VR Needs 60 Square Feet to Play

Planning on buying PlayStation VR? Better clear some space

If you plan on buying a PlayStation VR, you might want to start clearing some space. The space requirement for PlayStation VR has been revealed, as Sony has confirmed that the upcoming VR headset will require a massive 60 square feet of room to play.

The exact suggested dimensions for PSVR’s play area are 9.8 feet by 6.2 feet, and that totals 60.8 square feet, according to the Sony website (with thanks to IGN).

However, despite the huge amount of space you’ll apparently need to use it, Sony also suggests PS VR users sit while using the headset. “Limit your use of PS VR to within the play area,” they say in a brochure described by IGN. “Remain seated whenever possible. If an application requires you to stand while wearing the VR headset, follow the application instructions carefully, and maintain awareness of your surroundings.”

Sony’s PS VR is currently in the pre-order stage, but all units were sold out in late June. The company says they won’t offeri any more pre-order units, so if you want one, you will have to wait for the PlayStation VR’s release on October 13th, 2016.
