Latest Pokemon GO Update Packed With Changes

Pokemon Go Gets Some New Tweaks

You may have noticed something a bit off with your Pokemon Go app if you’ve installed the latest update. The biggest one has us scratching our heads, especially with the recent news of various services getting shut down. That being said, there’s a lot of great changes here so far to help improve the app’s performance. One of the bigger ones is that players can now update and re-customize their trainer from the profile screen. In case you made a bit of a goof when you made your avatar before, now you can right those wrongs!

That’s not all though. The Pokemon Go Update addresses a few performance issues, helping players get a bit more out of their battery life, and we all know this app is one serious power-sucker. Various issues with gyms have also been smoothed out, and players can also look forward to various bug fixes during encounters in Pokemon Go, such as the notorious freezing issues, we’re assuming. There’s one change we’re trying to wrap our head around though, and that is the removal of the footprint tracking altogether.

Services such as Pokevision were quite useful as they could give players an idea of what was in their area. Especially those who may have been a bit more strapped for luck when it came to trying to catch them all in Pokemon Go. It’s got us scratching our heads, but hopefully Niantic will improve our ability to find various Pokemon in Pokemon Go, especially with the removal of these various tracking services. Here’s hoping we see some further enhancements in a future Pokemon Go Update.

You can find the rest of the changes detailed below:

  • Avatars can now be re-customized from the Trainer profile screen
  • Adjusted battle move damage values for some Pokémon
  • Refined certain Gym animations
  • Improved memory issues
  • Removed footprints of nearby Pokémon
  • Modified battle damage calculation
  • Various bug fixes during wild Pokémon encounter
  • Updated Pokémon details screen
  • Updated achievement medal images
  • Fixed issues with displaying certain map features
  • Minor text fixes

If your app didn’t automatically update, you can find this update live on both the iOS App Store, and the Google Play Store right now.
