Pokemon Sun and Moon News Coming May 10

Fans awaiting Pokemon Sun and Moon can expect news this coming week

According to the official Pokemon Twitter account, quoting a tweet from Pokemon Sun and Moon producer Junichi Masuda, Pokemon fans around the world can expect an significant piece of news on Tuesday, May 10th at 5:00AM Pacific Time.

It is not yet clear whether Masuda himself will deliver the news, or it will be through a press release or a surprise Nintendo Direct. It is a bit of an odd choice of date for an announcement, though, as the PS4-exclusive Uncharted 4 is set to release on that same day. Either GameFreak is looking to piggy-back on Uncharted’s hype, or they overlooked that date’s significance when planning their promotion.

Nintendo announced Pokemon Sun and Moon during its February Nintendo Direct presentation. In both titles, players apparently can import Pokemon captured in eShop titles Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow via the Pokemon Bank. Pokemon Sun and Moon are the first new Pokemon games since Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire on the 3DS way back in 2014. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Pokemon franchise, and is as popular as ever with gamers as well as card players.

The new Pokemon Bank service feature update sounds pretty cool. Being able  to wirelessly transfer your Pokemon from the eShop versions of Red/Blue/Yellow, along with previous games X, Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire, to Sun and Moon will be definitely something to look forward to with the game’s release later this year.

Pokemon Sun and Moon, in development by GameFreak, are set for a holiday 2016 release on 3DS. In the meantime, Pokemon Rumble World is now out on 3DS – read about it here. COGcomnnected will keep you informed of the news when it happens, as well as any other Pokemon updates. Until then, stay on the hunt!
