PS4 Sales Continue To Edge Xbox One Sales, The Division Top Seller for March

Xbox One Still Struggling to Keep Up With PS4 Sales

Today, Sony released a statement indicating that PS4 was once again the best-selling console in the United States. These PS4 sales numbers are according to NPD data. Not only did they outsell its competition in hardware but in software as well.

The PS4 was also console that managed to scoop up the most sales for Tom Clancy’s The Division, that topped the software sales chart:

  • Tom Clancy’s The Division (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
  • Far Cry: Primal (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD (Wii U)
  • Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, PC)
  • UFC 2 (PS4, Xbox One)
  • MLB 16: The Show (PS4, PS3)
  • Pokken Tournament (Wii U)
  • NBA 2K16 (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3)
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops III (Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3, PC)
  • Minecraft (360, PS4, Xbox One, PS3)

As usual, platforms are listed in order of sales, meaning that the PS4 version was the top seller for four of the top five games of last month.

Sony reported the following in their press release today:

“Thank you to our fans and partners for making PlayStation 4 the top-selling console and software sales leader for the month of March, as well as the number-one console for fans of The Division, according to NPD,” a Sony spokesperson said in a statement shared with GameSpot. “We are truly humbled by the success and look forward to delivering more amazing gaming experiences throughout 2016, including the launch of PlayStation VR this October.”
