Gamescom: Kickstarter Point-And-Click Adventure Thimbleweed Park Coming to Xbox One

Microsoft’s gamescom presentation showcased its recent stable of indie games coming to Xbox One, and among those was the Kickstarter-funded point-and-click adventure Thimbleweed Park, developed by Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick.

Gilbert and Winnick are industry veterans, best known for the games Maniac Mansion (1987) and The Secret of Monkey Island (1990), both considered classics in the genre.  In fact, Thimbleweed Park is being touted as a spiritual successor to these two titles.

Gameplay in Thimbleweed Park looks similar to the point-and-click games we have loved from the past – you control a character in Third Person, and speak to others with text that appears at the bottom of the screen.  The game also features the same retro graphics look that those old favourites had.

As for story, Thimbleweed Park revolves around solving a murder-mystery set in a small town.  Two detectives must gather evidence and talk to the townsfolk to ascertain the truth behind the grisly crime.
